The Metropolitano bus is the system that gets around Lima, a city of more than 10 million people.
The metropolitano was inaugurated in 2010 conecting the southern and northern Lima passing through the Historic Centre. Provided with its own lane, this system is a good option for the tourists that want to travel in Lima without using cabs. In only 20 minutes you can go from the modern Miraflores to The Old town, this saves a big amount of time considering that the heavy traffic is the main problem that Lima handles every day.

HOW MUCH IS THE TICKET FOR THE METROPOLITANO BUS?
It doesnt matter if you only go to the next station or cross the whole city, the bus rate is always 2.50 soles. If you take the wrong bus or you want to switch, dont worry! You dont have to pay an extra ticket if you dont leave the station.
SHALL I PAY IN CASH?
This bus system works with a card that costs 4.5 soles (1.3 USD) and it is sold in every station. Anyway, like many tourists stay in lima for few days it is not necessary buying the card, many people only ask to someone else for assitance with the card which is very common in Lima; in every station you will find people charging the bus card and willing to help you.
From Monday to Sunday and from 6am to 10pm, the metro bus is the best way to travel in Lima. Nevermind if you are walking disoriented or there is something unclear, people and guards in the station are ready to lend you a hand
